Dr. Robert Blumofe is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Akamai. As CTO, he guides Akamai’s technology strategy to assess new market opportunities and new platforms for innovation, explore adjacent segments for the business, influence the development of standards, work with Akamai’s largest customers, and convene technology leaders within the company to catalyze innovation and represent Akamai’s technology vision in the marketplace. Previously, he led Akamai’s Platform organization and Enterprise Division. In leading the Platform organization, he was responsible for developing and operating the distributed system underlying all Akamai products and services. As General Manager of the Enterprise Division, he was responsible for the creation and market adoption of products and services for major enterprises to secure and improve performance for their users and applications as they move to the cloud. Blumofe joined Akamai in 1999 to lead the companys first performance team. While serving as one of Akamai’s chief architects, he was instrumental in the early design and development of the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform, which now handles trillions of Internet requests daily. He led all of Akamai’s Networks and Operations groups from 2004 to 2021. Prior to Akamai, Blumofe was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. He is widely published in the areas of algorithms and systems for highly distributed and parallel computing. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT and a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University.

He has developed numerous data-driven decision platforms and has used AI and machine learning to automate and predict behaviour to prevent business interruption, predict outcomes and drive cost saving and revenue generating business solutions. Recently, Michael has led efforts to deliver AI-driven solutions for monitoring the quality of the water in the Ganges River and predicting future water conditions, detecting abandoned mines that emit climate-changing gases, identifying unstable ground to prevent/predict landslides, tools for optimizing coal-mining operations, and the ability to predict the failure of surgical devices. Michael graduated from Brandeis University, the University of Massachusetts, and multiple certificates from MIT in advanced studies related to machine learning, AI and IoT. When not working, Michael enjoys flying rescue dogs and cats to new homes in his Cirrus SR-22 (N3754M), getting beaten at golf by his son and testing the absolute range of his Tesla batteries.

Doug Wilson is an Internet of Things Evangelist and Speaker and Moderator on the Internet of Things solutions and markets. He has successfully brought several new IoT solutions to market through the partnerships with Verizon. Doug works with many new and emerging IoT companies that are developing Internet of Things (IoT) products or cellular connected solutions in an advisory capacity to provide a completely connected IoT solution. Doug has had a successful career with Verizon as an IoT/M2M Technical Specialist, Verizon Partner Program Manager, Data Sales Account Manager and Data Sales Engineer and has won several awards for his efforts. Prior to that Doug worked for Verizon Business on the Sales Engineering Team as a Network Equipment Sales Specialist. Doug has had an extensive career in voice and data communications sales and engineering with numerous enterprise class organizations such as Belkin, Microsemi, Avaya, and NEC. Doug started off his technical career by serving our country in the US Air Force as a Communications Specialist where he achieved Management and Outstanding Team Chief awards.

Prior to ZenFi, Walter served as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Metro|NS, where he effectively developed sales strategies that delivered results. Before Metro|NS, Walter was the Director of Enterprise Sales for Lexent Metro Connect, where he was responsible for growing Lexent’s core business. Walter has held senior management positions in Sales, Marketing and Business Development focused on start-ups and emerging technologies. He received a degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Engineering and Mathematics from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Prior to RIoT, Caroline held several positions with event planning and sponsorship raising responsibilities. Under Tom’s leadership, RIoT has launched the RIoT Accelerator Program, RIoT Studios, which includes the RIoT Underground Podcast, and RIoT’s ED series. He has grown RIoT from a Research Triangle focused organization to one with international reach. In his spare time, Tom co-instructs Product Innovation Lab, a Forbes award winning multidisciplinary course in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at NC State. Prior to joining RIoT, Tom held an executive leadership role at the ASSIST Center, a National Science Foundation sponsored effort to create wearable electronics for healthcare monitoring. Previously, he spent two decades in product development and technology incubation for multinational technology companies. He’s passionate about creating and fostering collaborations across disciplines, markets and cultures.
